These documents were created by printing from Microsoft Word 97 to a non-existent colour HP LaserJet 5/5M PS. The resultant PostScript files were processed by Adobe Acrobat Distiller 4.0 to create PDFs.
All files: Acrobat 3.0-compatible, optimized, thumbnails on; text and line art compressed; all fonts embedded. // Low-resolution files: 600 dpi target, colour bitmaps average-downsampled to 72 dpi with medium-quality automatic compression; greyscale bitmaps average-downsampled to 300 dpi using high-quality automatic compression; monochrome bitmaps average-downsampled to 300 dpi using CCITT Group 4 compression. // High-resolution files: 600 dpi target, colour and greyscale bitmaps bicubic-downsampled to 300 dpi with maximum-quality automatic compression; monochrome bitmaps bicubic-downsampled to 600 dpi using Zip compression.
(Adobe PDFWriter doesn't handle symbol fonts perfectly, and printing directly to Adobe Distiller sometimes fails, so it was impossible to retain hyperlinks without losing symbols.)
