For Part IB and Part II Experimental Psychology and Part II
Neuroscience, Natural Sciences Tripos (second- and third-year
undergraduate courses of the University of Cambridge), with additional
material for MRCPsych Part 1 teaching.
Relevant external links include:
- the Department of Experimental Psychology;
the School of the Biological
Sciences and within it the Faculty Board of Biology;
- Information on specific courses:
- Also, the University Reporter, which
publishes the Lecture List.
- For statistics, relevant external links include the
excellent set of Statistics
Notes in the British Medical Journal (see also Martin Bland's
publications) and StatSoft's
Electronic Statistics Textbook (rather hard going for the novice).
- For writing skills, relevant links include The Nuts and Bolts of College
Writing and the Economist Style Guide, not
to mention Dr Grammar's FAQs.
APA Style is popular amongst
psychologists and the US Government Printing Office Style Manual
is freely available, but the best two books on the subject are probably
Burchfield RW (1996), The New
Fowler's Modern English Usage (third edition), Oxford University
Press, ISBN
0198691262, and Peters P (2004), The
Cambridge Guide to English Usage, Cambridge University Press, ISBN
052162181X.
- Perhaps of interest: Rat
Life: A Natural History.
NST 1B Psychology practicals
are on Tuesdays/Wednesdays and Thursdays/Fridays. Each practical
is run three times, because there are more students than will easily
fit in the practical classroom for some practicals. The time slots are
Tuesday 9-11 am, Wednesday 10-12 am and Wednesday 2-4 pm (in any given
week, these are three copies of the same practical), and Thursday 2-4
pm, Friday 10-12 am and Friday 2-4 pm (again, in any given week, these
are three copies of the same practical).
The following handouts are in PDF format. Click here

reference numbers (T for teaching materials).
